Princeton,
NJ
/PRNewswire-FirstCall/ October 14, 2008 – Mikros Systems Corporation
(OTCBB: MKRS), announced today that it has delivered two ADEPT V2
systems to the USS Bunker Hill (CG-52). ADEPT is Mikros’ automated
maintenance tool designed to significantly reduce the man-hours
required to align the AN/SPY-1 Radar System aboard U.S. Navy AEGIS
cruisers and destroyers, while optimizing system performance and
readiness. The USS Bunker Hill is the first ship receiving upgrades
as part of the US Navy’s CG modernization program.
The ADEPT V2
carries a smaller footprint than its predecessor, the V1. The
exterior dimensions of the unit were reduced by more than 50% and
the weight of the unit was reduced from 48 lbs. to 23 lbs. The ADEPT
V2 also features additional functionality not found in the V1
design, including support for the
AN/SPY-1 Transmitter Alignment Tool (STAT), and increased digital
instrument functionality.
The USS Bunker Hill has been evaluating the ADEPT V1 currently
operated by the US Navy Southwest Regional Maintenance Center. With
this delivery, the technicians aboard the USS Bunker Hill will now
have direct ownership of new tools designed to improve readiness and
reduce the time and complexity of maintaining advanced electronic
systems.
Mikros will facilitate fleet introduction of ADEPT by sending our
own Subject Matter Experts (SMEs) to the first ships receiving these
units and to the Navy’s AEGIS Training and Readiness Center to
provide initial training to Navy instructors and lead technicians.
This “train-the-trainer” approach is intended to establish a strong
foundation of ADEPT system experts and improve the rate of
fleet-wide acceptance and use of ADEPT as deliveries ramp up.
“This delivery represents a huge milestone for us as we continue to
work with the Navy in executing its modernization program. We
expect this to be the first of many more deliveries over the next
few years. The Navy is prepared to order additional ADEPT units in
the current fiscal year, and has requested information that suggests
even larger orders are forthcoming over the next two to three
years. The fact that the Navy has asked us to deliver these units
to the USS Bunker Hill is definitely a positive sign of future
intentions, and we at Mikros are proud to provide equipment to the
operating fleet that will ensure improved readiness,” stated Thomas
Meaney, President of Mikros.
