Mikros Systems
Corporation Announces
Contract Award for U.S. Navy Distance Support Application Development
Princeton, NJ /PRNewswire/ July
6, 2009 – Mikros Systems Corporation (OTCBB: MKRS),
announced today that it received a new contract
for engineering and development of distance support applications for U.S. Navy
radars. The contract, valued at $225,000, is for the definition of the
interface for distance support applications for the Common Digital Sensor
Architecture (CDSA) program. This work will take place over the next 8 months.
The contract was awarded by DRS C3 Systems, Gaithersburg, MD.
Mikros will provide engineering and technical
support tasks relating to the advancement of Distance Support capabilities for
the CDSA program. The objective is to develop a common interface design for
legacy radar systems related to Distance Support. The interface will be used to
automate support processes.
Distance support of complex electronic systems
helps reduce the knowledge and skills required to operate and maintain
equipment, and improves the quality, quantity, and compatibility of collected
field data. Distance support also increases the U.S. Navy’s capability to
collect, process, and transfer off-ship all relevant reliability,
maintainability, and availability (RM&A), logistics, readiness, and other data
required to implement cost-effective sustainability strategies.
Mikros gained extensive experience with
distance support technologies while integrating these capabilities into its
Adaptive Diagnostic Electronic Portable Testset (ADEPT). Mikros also developed
knowledge of U.S. Navy distance support operations while working to secure
System Security Approval Authority (SSAA), IT-21 accreditation, and Interim
Authority To Operate (IATO) for demonstration of the distance support
applications with ADEPT for Trident Warrior 2009.
“This new contract confirms our ability to
develop and deliver distance support solutions for U.S. Navy radars and other
electronic systems,” said Mikros President, Tom Meaney. “We are very pleased to
work with DRS C3, and look forward to transferring our knowledge and experience
with U.S. Navy distance support programs into the DRS C3 products.”
