Glomerulus Diagram
Glomerulus Diagram. Each glomerulus receives its blood supply from an afferent arteriole of the renal circulation. The tuft is structurally supported by the mesangium - the space between the blood vessels - made up of intraglomerular mesangial cells.
The efferent arteriole, branching from the renal artery, enters the nephron at a network of capillaries called the glomerulus.
Inside a vertebrate, each kidney has millions of nephrons, each of which produces urine and leads it to.
Nephron, functional unit of the kidney, the structure that actually produces urine in the process of removing waste and excess substances from the blood. The net result is a relatively steady flow of blood into the glomerulus and a relatively steady filtration rate in spite of significant systemic blood pressure changes.
